Shadowrun, 4th edition talk

Yeah, I know, haven't got many gamers on my f'list... but it was so good to see an actual sane take on the Shadowrun 4 stuff that's been going on. I mean, I don't even read Dumpshock first hand anymore, and the stupid there still manages to hurt my brain.

This sums up most of my issues very nicely. Yay. Sanity!

Personally, I'm really looking forward to SR4. The game desperately needs an overhaul, both to let the game world keep up with this (the real world) not being the eighties anymore, and to make all character types playable for all gamers and gaming groups. So far our game's had no PC deckers (one mage-decker, and a few others who dabble a bit on the side, but no "full" deckers), and only one PC rigger.

And no matter what happens with the rules, what I love most about Shadowrun is the world, anyway. The setting, the idea. That's what Shadowrun is for me, not a collection of rules. It's such a fantastic world to play in, with so much atmosphere and backstory and rich detail and metaplots and sideplots and stuff going on that I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. (And I've been playing it on and off for six years and counting, now. Five years with different constallations of my current group. I'm one lucky gamer. ♥)

(A good introduction to the wonderful world of Shadowrun can be found here on the official site.)

Meme time again

Because lalala_zombi tagged me.

Things you enjoy, even when no one around you wants to hang out. What lowers your stress/blood pressure/anxiety level? Make a list, post it to your journal... and then tag 5 friends and ask them to post it to theirs.

1. Books and manga - reading. Just holding a book or having a manga volume with me can help distract me from stress. It's a way to disconnect from everything that's bringing me down, and experience something fantastic.

2. My fandom. Just thinking about what the current fandom(s) happen to be can usually make me happy. Doing anything associated with it - watching an episode, reading a chapter, or fic, or listening to music... whatever's available usually makes me feel good all over.

3. Internet... so many things to do, so little time! So I'll just pick one example. baaaaabyanimals. ♥

4. Writing. Doesn't happen very often, but when it does - whoa. There's nothing quite like it, except maybe...

5. ... drawing. I don't do it nearly enough, but it's a wonderful way of making the world go away, and there's just me and my drawing tools and colors, shapes and imagination.

And about the tagging - do it if you want to! ^_^
