What should I read?
Summer holidays are coming up! (Well, as long as I survive the essays & exams I have left.) This is a good thing! It means I can read more books!

No, really. It means a lot of other stuff as well, like my brother coming to visit and going to Tokyo twice in as many months and such, so I won't be idle, but. I've been craving books like mad ever since I got back into the habit of reading, and I worship Amazon. They send books free, if it's over 1500 yen! And I have one book I want, but I need more to make the 1500-limit. And I kind of want my shipment fast, so the number of English language books available in less than a week or two is limited. So I need help!

What should I read?

My recent reading pile consists of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series (all three books), Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, Neil Gaiman's Coraline, Rob Thurman's Nightlife, China Miéville's Perdido Street Station, and Niall Murtagh's The Blue-Eyed Salaryman. I enjoyed all of them (though Perdido Street Station kind of hurt), and can I have more, please? ^_^

Oh! Lynn Flewelling's The Oracle Queen is in my "will have soon" pile, and while I'd dearly love to read more Charles de Lint, those of his books that are available through Japanese Amazon are ridiculously expensive.

Any suggestions are most welcome - the more the better, since there's that issue with which ones are available, and which I've already read, but I'm quite open to anything that looks interesting at this point. ^_^

Feeling: busy busy
Listening to: Falconer - Lord of the Blacksmiths

LOL! Persistent! ^_^

Do you know if the manga came before the anime, or if it's the other way around?

...if I fail any of my essays because I'm watching Haruhi, I'm blaming you, my dear otaku. Do you have any idea how boring these essays are? Do you have any idea how easily distracted I am? It's taking everything I have not to start watching them! You are an evil, evil man, and a terrible influence. 見たいよ!

The anime is adapted from a series of novels. That's what you were searching for, no? And thanks to me, you can improve your kanji reading. No need to thank me, no, really, it's nothing...

Don't worry, I'll take full resposibility if you fail one of the sooooo important KUINEP classes. I'll be spanked by Katayama-san instead of you.

Clik, clik?

I... you... Ow. Mental image HARMFUL FOR BRAIN. ^_^;;;

...I'm not reading novels in Japanese. No. No way. (And if I am, I'm reading Twelve Kingdoms first!)

Not clicking until I've become addicted to the anime.

Mm. Annars var det ett bra tips!

Mercedes Lackey are always fun to read. Start with Black Gryphon, Silver Gryphon and White Gryphon.
There is also "It takes a thief" and "Exile's Honor" if you want a more somber mood and further along in the history.

Set in a fantasy setting, very black and white, although there are morality twists, it is very escapesque. But since I read for fun and not intellectual stimulation per see, it might be a tad boring for those who doesn't like fantasy and such.
She has written several books in this setting/world and I must admit I am addicted to her and her fellow writers.
